The scientific project of the Latvian Academy of Culture, published last year as the collective monograph under the title Cultural Heritage Communities: Practices, Development and Challenges by Janis Roze Publishing House is significant for four reasons. First, it provides a theoretical basis for those interested in intangible cultural heritage, cultural communities, and in the management of the heritage. Second, it reflects the current opinions and attitude of the Latvian people towards cultural heritage. Third, it describes a part of our rich intangible culture. Fourth, it outlines future challenges and opportunities for preservation and creation of intangible cultural heritage. Once again, the collected data confirm that everything depends on people and their actions.
