Peer review introduces reader with a book “Power of the Powerless: Masaryk, Patočka, Havel” containing collection of selected reports of the international conference with the same title. The aim of the conference was learning about the intellectual contribution of three outstanding persons – T.G. Masaryk, J. Patočka and V. Havel. The book is about forces, processes and conditions that facilitate or destroy freedom, and not only about that.

Philosopher Raivis Bičevskis introduce the book “A subject and the lifeworld” written by Jurgen Kriz (germ. Jurgen Kriz). The book was published in 2017, but it has not obtained deserved attention. The book is an attempt to amalgamate in a creative way several methods, notions and even several science disciplines in a single point of view.

Brief presentation of two events important for Latvian sinologists held on 18 December 2019. The first is opening of the book “My Chinese story”, written by Peteris Pildegovičs about the opening of Latvian Embassy in China and first years of its operation. The second event was elaboration and opening of the electronic Lietotne “Large Chinese – Latvian Vocabluary”.
