The article is dedicated to the series of document publications “Sources of History” established by the Latvian National Archives journal Latvijas Arhīvi. Twelve issues have been published in the series, the published documents covering the period from the Middle Ages to the interwar period of the 20th century. Document publications are dedicated to specific events, people, or processes in history. Documents are published in the original language and translated into Latvian, if it is not the original language. The documents are accompanied by commentators’ explanations of specific terms and additional facts about events and persons. Thus, not only the documents become available to the public, but also valuable explanatory material, which allows to understand the circumstances of the document’s origin.
