The article reflects the contribution of prominent Latvian scientists in exile, Konstantīns Počs and Guntis Bruniņš, to the development of AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System), which is now increasingly used in military intelligence, including during the Russian–Ukrainian war. A brief description is given of the AWACS system and an insight into its use in the developments of the Russian–Ukrainian war. Information is provided about Konstantīns Počs and Guntis Bruniņš, their merits and professional and scientific activities are discussed.
It is highlighted that additional information about them is still to be found in archives, organisations and museums, which can provide new points of view of their lives and activities as prominent personalities. The article also discusses the issue of the memorial places for Konstantīns Počs and Guntis Bruniņš in Latvia. A proposal has been made to renew Konstantīns Počs’s family home in Latvia in Viļāni parish, Rēzekne Municipality, and grant it the status of a cultural and historical object.
