The article is a review of a book on the history of Latvian literature in English, A New History of Latvian Literature. The Long Nineteenth Century (2022). The book presents the history of the 19th century literature from a new perspective — it covers the period from 1791 to 1914. The authors of the book discuss the process of the development of Latvian literature in an original way — through the mediation of the press, societies, visual material, research in folklore, literary translations, etc. Structurally, the publication corresponds to a mosaic-like collection of articles. More attention is paid to Latvian prose.
