The article reviews the book Ungrateful. The Beginnings of Latvian Political Thought in European Contexts by the Latvian political scientist and politician Ivars Ijabs. In his work, the author analyses the political ideas from the beginnings of the creation of the Latvian nation to the 1905 revolution. At the same time, the author also offers to look into the political views and actions of Baltic Germans and Russians, thus opening up the possibility to analyse the ideological texts through the paradigm of post-colonialism. The author of the book presents it as a popular science book, however, the text will also be important for academic circles.
