Sanita Osipova

Dr. iur. Sanita Osipova is a professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Latvia. She was a judge of the Constitutional Court (2011–2022) and the President of the Court
(2020–2022). Sanita Osipova is the author of more than 150 publications on the history of law, constitutional law, sociology of law (such as the effectiveness of law and legal culture),
and legal ethics. Sanita Osipova is the founder and member of the assembly of Professor Kārlis Dišlers Foundation. The aims of the Foundation are to promote the development of the national science of state law, to involve students in state law, and to promote the strengthening of the values of a democratic state governed by the rule of law in society. She is also a member of the international European Society for Comparative Legal History (ESCLH), and member of the international Research Committee on Sociology of Law (RCSL). In 2021, she was awarded Arveds Švābe Prize of the Latvian Academy of Sciences in the history of Latvia for the collection of articles Nation, Language, Rule-of-Law State: Towards Tomorrow. In 2022, she was appointed Commander of the Order of the Three Stars.
